In July 2019, we started the Ubuntu Skills Programme, providing sewing lessons to teachers, parents and women and men from our local community. A group of 10 people have enthusiastically started two-hour lessons twice a week and will continue till the end of the year. The group has established its own trading collective already and sold their first amazing collection of hats, aprons and dresses on our Spring Fair. In need of any repair or upcycling? Be in touch with teacher Porcha and Xabsi directly!
The Ubuntu Skills Programme has been made possible with a subsidy of the Dutch Municipality Tilburg. Ubuntu, meaning ‘I am because we are’, fits in our school philosophy of building community by increasing skills and creating platforms for community members to improve their lives together.
