Doing Geology

Aug 3, 2018 | News

Prof. Harilaos Tsikos and his team from Rhodes Geology department presented fascinating rock samples for us to study and identify. We then went down to the Kariega River to study the rocks along the river bank and try work out what type of rocks they were and what causes those beautiful layered shapes. We took it a step further by building up the layers with playdough to see exactly how the layers in the rocks form. The kids won’t forget this lesson easily. Thank you Prof. Harilaos and team for taking the time to teach the kids about geology and how it helps shape ecosystems.
